We're under a severe thunderstorm warning right now. Of course, we're experiencing a sever thunderstorm right now. Today, we have hail, strong winds, and possibly tornadoes to deal with. Oh joy. I had plans for today. Plans that need to be done before tomorrow type plans.

Have you ever been reading this awesome piece of fanfic, with an absolutely wonderful concept that, ok, maybe you've read before but not quite like this? Don't you just hate it when, as you're reading along, totally engrossed, picturing it all in your head, all of a sudden it's like BAM! typo? Or, well, improper vocabulary.

I certainly do. One of my biggest pet-peeves has got to be definitely. Except people spell it defiantly. Which is so a different word. I see that in a sentence where it is utterly obvious that the author meant to use definitely and I end up hopping completely out of the story and ranting about beta readers, spell-check, and a dictionary.

So, anonymous fanfic author on Teaspoon, here's a lesson:

Defiantly = derived from Defiance
Definitely = derived from Definite

So, if you're saying your character is very sure of something, it'd be correct to say they're definitely certain about whatever it is.

Ok, so, remember that H/G fic I posted recently (Spaces Between)? Well, I rated it "teen(ish)" because 1) there are no graphic descriptions of violence or sexuality; and 2) no one actually gets raped (groped unwillingly, yes; raped, no--to be even more clear, there is no unwilling, forced penetration at all). Now, I get this from one of the validators at HPFF:

Apr 6,08 - For the implied sexual assault, this story will need to have a MATURE rating, and the warning STRONG VIOLENCE. As well, for the sexual content, the warning SCENES OF A SEXUAL NATURE will need to be added. -- PropMaster

Personally, I think a Mature rating (as opposed to 15+, which is what I originally rated it on HPFF) for Spaces Between is overkill. I mean, it's nothing I haven't seen in a PG-13 movie.

I did what the validator wanted, but I still disagree with it.

OMG! Know how yesterday I was all happy because I could access SIYE using a proxy? Yeah, that is no more. I can't get the site because, shock of all shocks, "Server not found". Now, the question is, do I e-mail SIYE and tell the that their server can't be found or do I just wait awhile and hope it fixes itself?

I can get on SIYE! Yay! Of course, I have to use a proxy server, but still, I can get on the site!
