Have you ever been reading this awesome piece of fanfic, with an absolutely wonderful concept that, ok, maybe you've read before but not quite like this? Don't you just hate it when, as you're reading along, totally engrossed, picturing it all in your head, all of a sudden it's like
BAM! typo? Or, well, improper vocabulary.
I certainly do. One of my biggest pet-peeves has got to be definitely. Except people spell it defiantly. Which is
so a different word. I see that in a sentence where it is utterly obvious that the author meant to use definitely and I end up hopping completely out of the story and ranting about beta readers, spell-check, and a dictionary.

Teaspoon, here's a lesson:
Defiantly = derived from Defiance
Definitely = derived from Definite
So, if you're saying your character is very sure of something, it'd be correct to say they're
definitely certain about whatever it is.
